Noah's Ark Circle Game/Song
Thanks to Janet for sharing this game with us!
"This is a game that I play with two, threes, and fours during our Noah and the Ark week at our church preschool."
- Make a circle with all the children.
- Pick two to be the first "animals" in the Ark. They get in the middle of the circle.
- Choose an animal with a sound (like a pig) or allow the two in the middle to pick an animal. They pretend to be that animal and act like them or make sounds like the animals or both.
- The other children circle around singing: Chorus: Old Noah in the Ark, Old Noah in the Ark, High-Ho! the Dairy-O, Old Noah in the Ark! Verse One: Two (pigs) were in the Ark (oink, oink), Two (pigs) were in the Ark (oink, oink), High-Ho! the Dairy-O, Two (pigs) were in the Ark!
- The two in the middle join the circle on the left of the teacher and the next two on the right of the teacher get "on the Ark". This is so everyone gets a turn and the teacher does not have to remember who has and hasn't - she just picks the next two on her right until everyone has had one turn or continues until the time is up.
- This game can also be played with an Ark and a selection of animals. The first child selects an animal (or two if you have enough) and puts it on the Ark that is in the middle of the circle or is by the teacher during group time. Then every child gets to choose an animal to put on the Ark. Must have enough animals for everyone to choose.
Chorus:
Old Noah in the Ark, Old Noah in the Ark,
High-Ho! the Dairy-O, Old Noah in the Ark!
Verse One:
Two (pigs) were in the Ark (oink, oink), Two (pigs) were in the Ark (oink, oink),
High-Ho! the Dairy-O, Two (pigs) were in the Ark!
(substitute animals and the animal noises as you go).
