DLTK's Bible Songs for Kids
Bible Stories Song

Thanks to a viewer who sent this in to us!  "This was an old one my dad taught me - If you know this it is a good tune to use for many Bible stories....."

(*1st part sort of spoken / sung rather slowly....)

I'm being swallowed by a boa constrictor,
I'm being swallowed by a boa constrictor,
I'm being swallowed by a boa constrictor,
and I don't like it very much!

(*Next part goes a little faster with each line.....
and done in a repeat pattern. So teacher can sing, then children.
*Actions - can be just touching the body parts the snake has reached.)

Oh no, oh no!
He swallowed my toes, he swallowed my toes!

Oh gee, oh gee!
He's up to my knees, he's up to my knees!

Oh fiddle, oh fiddle!
He's reached my middle, he's reached my middle!

Oh wreck, oh wreck!
He's up to my neck, he's up to my neck!

Oh dread, oh dread!
He's swallowed my .... GULP!!

(make a big, loud swallowing sound!)

NOW - to use this for Jesus walking on the sea.....

Peter singing as he walks to Jesus on the water;

(*Actions - look straight ahead as if watching Jesus, and move your feet as if walking, swing arms.)

(Triumphantly -)   I'm walking to Jesus on the sea!

(Still amazed -)  I'm walking to Jesus on the sea!

(now he looks around and sees the high waves and so this line is sung a bit shakily & doubtful -)

I'm walking to Jesus on the sea?

- Oh my, how can this be?

(2nd part a little faster with each line...
Actions - as he sinks into the water you crouch a little closer & closer to the floor
and also touch your body parts: toes, knees, waist as you sink.)

Oh no, oh no!
It's covered my toes, it's covered my toes!

Oh gee, oh gee!
It's up to my knees, it's up to my knees!

Oh fiddle, oh fiddle!
It's reached my middle, it's reached my middle!

(Reach out a hand upward and look up... shouting, as Peter did.)

"Jesus, Save me !!"

(and then pop back up to full height)

and He did, and He still does!

- I think with a little adaptation this can be used for many stories.
